• Thomas Hefferon was born in London in 1982, moving to Ireland with his family in 1989 and settling in Dublin. After finishing school he did a series of odd jobs, shooting short films in his spare time. His first proper short, , was selected for official competition at over 40 major international film festivals, including such prestigious festivals as, Tribeca, Palm Springs and Rhode Island, ultimately garnering runner-up awards at both the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the Filmstock Film Festival.

     

    secured a national cinema release in 33 cinemas across Ireland, where it played in front of the Dylan Moran comedy "A Film With Me In It". was also selected by Tribeca to début on their YouTube channel and garnered a massive 225,000 views in under a week.

     

    Thomas’ next film , was chosen as one of three shorts to be produced out of 300 scripts entered into a funding scheme supported by the Irish state broadcaster RTÉ. Since premiering at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival has gone on to be selected for more than 20 major international film festivals, including the prestigious Palm Springs, Newport Beach and Encounters film festivals, along the way picking up runner-up awards at the Rushes Soho and Williamsburg film festivals.

     

    Thomas is currently in post on his latest film, , which like , was also funded by the state broadcaster RTÉ, in association with the Galway Film Centre. The script was chosen as one of two films to be made last year from over 100 entries. Thomas is also currently editing a feature length documentary titled , about the Irish female bodybuilding champion Indira Ward.

     

    In September 2009 Thomas had the honour of being nominated in the “Best New Director” category at the Kinsale Shark Awards, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious advertising awards. Ten young directors are selected from across the globe, with previous winners including Neil Blomkamp “District 9”. His music video by JJ Daly, was also nominated in the “Best Solo Male” category at the 2009 Irish Music Video Awards.

     

    Thomas is currently working on a number of feature film projects and in July 2010 was selected to take part in the Galway Film Fleadh Pitch Award, with his treatment for being selected from over a hundred entries. Thomas also directs commercials and is currently prepping his first two spots.
